Camera Shots Quiz
For this assignment we were instructed to create a story using 8 different types of shots and 15 shots in total to tell the story and for the audience to understand the idea of it. The idea of this assignment wasn't not just to use the shots we were given, if not to use them correctly and approach them in a correctly manner to fit in with the story.
My story consisted of a little fish that stood out from his friends and tended to feel excluded and as if he didn't fit in, that's when it met the friends he was destined to find. We made each group of fish different colors to show the separation between them and to be able to identify them. When creating the story we tried to give the story some sort of message to it. Our intention was to show to difference of the characters feelings through out the story not only by its actions but by its facial expressions, which we accomplished by drawing on the different emotions it was feeling.
Personally I think we struggled in taking a few of the shots, for example the medium shot. This was because having such tiny characters made it difficult to take a shot waist up without having it seem like a close up. We also struggled in the setting for this story since the fishes wouldn't stand up on their own we had to find really specific spots were we could perfectly stand it on its own or leaning on something while still understanding where it is taking place and what we are trying to show. On the other hand, I think we did well on choosing each shot for each scene. We were able to match the characters emotions and feelings to the way we placed the camera.
