Production Day 3
Hello Cambridge peoplee! I hope you've all had a wonderful Sunday and an amazing day to your week. On Friday we had our last production day. Thankfully everything went up to plan and played off smoothly. This blog will be a run down on how everything went and the decisions that were made.
Arianna, Emma, and I all arrived at TAG USA at 7:30pm while Oona had already been there since earlier due to her work hours. This gave us heads start and allowed us to get some of those tricks out of the way. Since our actor that was going to be the one doing all the tricks had to leave at 7:30pm, Oona took initiative and went right ahead on to filming those few clips. She made sure to take many close ups since Arianna who is playing Gianna and her aren't exactly look alike. However, we were able to make it work, and I have to say the shots turned out looking great. Oona focused more on filming bars until we arrived which was when we moved on to beam and were able to get a few more shots with the gymnast. Again, we stuck to the close ups which ended up working fine and then we moved on to shooting Arianna. We knew it was important to shoot her to keep it realistic and for the audience to think it was truly her doing all those tricks. We had to do many costume switches due to me having exactly what the gymnast had on and Arianna the complete opposite. This led to us switching on and off to get Arianna i the shots while me doing a few of the tricks since gymnastics isn't Arianna's strong side. We made sure to overshoot, mostly on the consistent landings. We did struggle with the different jewelry and needing to switch it on and off. We didn't exactly have a specific order when filming which is something we should've done since it did cause us to get off track a few times. With no time to spare since the gym closes at 8:30pm we had to move quick and choose smartly on the scenes we wanted to shoot. We focused on getting tight shots to then be able add many jump cuts when editing the overall film. Overall, it was a pretty successful day and were all very pleased with how everything's turning out. See you all in week 6!!
